What He’s Built For
Cory Mayfield is built for mastery through process. An IRONMAN Age Group World Champion and four-time IRONMAN overall amateur champion, his path to the professional ranks has been defined by patience, discipline, and relentless attention to detail. Now stepping into pro racing after a strong debut at Indian Wells 70.3, Cory approaches performance the same way he approaches medicine—as an orthopedic surgeon chief resident at USC—by optimizing every variable that matters. Training, nutrition, equipment, and mindset are all treated as systems to refine, not shortcuts to chase. His custom V.21 reflects that philosophy: tailored for efficiency, heat management, and precision fit, with quiet nods to heritage and purpose.
Cory is built for long-term excellence—where consistency wins, improvement is earned daily, and results follow the work. Beyond professional triathlon, he will pursue an additional year of specialty training from 2026–2027 in Sports Medicine and Shoulder Surgery at Rush University, where he will assist in the care of the Chicago Bulls, Chicago White Sox, and other professional teams in the Chicago area.
